The Word of Their Testimonies

“Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” Rev: 12: 10A-11 (NKJV)

It was this passage that originally led me to obey the Lord is talking about my abortion in public arenas. At first I felt like Jonah going to Nineveh and the fear of God – and the potential of ending up in a whale – was my only guide. Yet with each testimony, God allowed me to see His message through me penetrating even the toughest exteriors. The result was understanding, empathy, and even respect! While judgment existed, it was minimal because God was evident in the story.

After I share I delight in listening as others relay their own testimonies. Encouraging folks to talk means getting to the root of their pain. Survivors rarely go to the edge in revealing their deeply held testimony. Sharing is more difficult when it involves topics such as incest, homosexuality, rape or satanic ritual abuse. Releasing these confessions is sometimes the first step towards healing. Exposing the wounds is the only way to help them begin the healing process.

Understand your major role is to share, listen, pray and allow the Lord to speak through you in His work of redemption. Guard your heart it becomes overburdened by the horror of their experiences. Find an accountability person who can help you process the stories in a Godly manner. And always know that this ministry has nothing to do with you but with God working through you!
